Journyx (JTime) - XXE (CVE-2024-6893)
Description
The "soap_cgi.pyc" API handler allows the XML body of SOAP requests to contain references to external entities. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to read local files, perform server-side request forgery, and overwhelm the web server resources.
psychologyCrowdSec Analysis
CVE-2024-6893 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in the Journyx (JTime) "soap_cgi.pyc" API handler, which allows unauthenticated attackers to include external entity references in SOAP requests. This flaw can be exploited to read sensitive local files, conduct server-side request forgery (SSRF), or exhaust server resources, posing significant risks to data confidentiality and system integrity.
CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 15th of May 2026.
CrowdSec network observations suggest that most exploitation of CVE-2024-6893 involves focused reconnaissance to identify viable targets. Attackers typically tailor their campaigns based on system exposure and configuration. It is unlikely that a given attack is accidental. Data from the CrowdSec community also indicates a gradual decrease in attacks targeting CVE-2024-6893. While still present in the wild, exploitation levels have dropped noticeably week-over-week. This may signal that the vulnerability is becoming less relevant or that defenses are improving fast enough for attackers to lose interest.
Attackers exploit the /jtcgi/soap_cgi.pyc endpoint by sending crafted SOAP XML bodies containing external entity references, enabling them to read local files or perform SSRF via XML External Entities (XXE) injection.
