SolarView Compact - Path Traversal (CVE-2023-40924)

CVE-2023-40924 is a directory traversal vulnerability in SolarView Compact versions prior to 6.00. This flaw allows remote attackers to access sensitive files and directories outside the intended web root, potentially exposing confidential information and system data.

Attackers exploit the /downloader.php endpoint by supplying path traversal sequences and a null byte (%00) in the file parameter to access sensitive files such as /etc/passwd. This technique allows unauthenticated users to read arbitrary files from vulnerable SolarView Compact systems.
