Dynamicweb - Authentication Bypass (CVE-2022-25369)

CVE-2022-25369 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability in Dynamicweb versions prior to 9.12.8, where attackers can create new administrator accounts without authentication due to a logic flaw in the setup phase validation. Once an attacker gains admin access, they can upload executable files and achieve remote command execution, leading to full system compromise. This vulnerability poses a severe risk, allowing for complete takeover of affected systems.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 15th of April 2026.

Insights from the CrowdSec network reveal that the attackers trying to exploit CVE-2022-25369 are composed of a fairly even mix of opportunistic and targeted actors. Some attackers employ preliminary reconnaissance, while others use indiscriminate scanning. CrowdSec network telemetry also shows that exploitation of CVE-2022-25369 has significantly declined over the past week. Attack volumes are well below the long-term average, suggesting attackers are rapidly losing interest. The vulnerability appears to be falling out of active use across most threat landscapes.

Attackers exploit the /Admin/Access/Setup/Default.aspx endpoint with the Action=createadministrator parameter to create new administrative users without authentication. This allows them to gain full control over vulnerable Dynamicweb CMS installations.
