## Key facts

- **Exploitation phase:** Background Noise. Continuous low-level scanning or exploitation attempts are observed, mostly opportunistic and automated.
- **CVSS score:** 5.4
- **Public exploit available:** Yes
- **Affected products:** Djangoproject Django
- **Weaknesses:** CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection'))
- **Tags:** python, web_application

## Description

An issue was discovered in 6.0 before 6.0.2, 5.2 before 5.2.11, and 4.2 before 4.2.28.
Raster lookups on ``RasterField`` (only implemented on PostGIS) allows remote attackers to inject SQL via the band index parameter.
Earlier, unsupported Django series (such as 5.0.x, 4.1.x, and 3.2.x) were not evaluated and may also be affected.
Django would like to thank Tarek Nakkouch for reporting this issue.

## CrowdSec analysis

[CVE-2026-1207](https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/CVE-2026-1207) is a SQL injection vulnerability in Django affecting versions prior to 6.0.2, 5.2.11, and 4.2.28, specifically in the RasterField lookups implemented on PostGIS. This flaw allows remote attackers to inject malicious SQL code via the band index parameter, potentially leading to unauthorized data access or manipulation. Earlier, unsupported Django versions may also be at risk, increasing the attack surface for applications using affected configurations.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 18th of February 2026.

Insights from the CrowdSec network reveal that the attackers trying to exploit CVE-2026-1207 are composed of a fairly even mix of opportunistic and targeted actors. Some attackers employ preliminary reconnaissance, while others use indiscriminate scanning.
Telemetry from the CrowdSec network also shows that exploitation activity for CVE-2026-1207 remains steady week-over-week. Attack volumes are consistent with long-term trends, indicating sustained interest from threat actors. CVE-2026-1207 continues to be an active part of the threat landscape and will likely remain this way for the forseeable future.

Attackers exploit endpoints with a band parameter, such as `/?band=` or `/api/raster/search/?band=`, injecting SQL payloads to trigger errors and extract information from the underlying PostgreSQL database.
