## Description

An unauthenticated directory traversal vulnerability exists in Polyaxon/Polyaxon, affecting the latest version. This vulnerability allows an attacker to retrieve directory information and file contents from the server without proper authorization, leading to sensitive information disclosure. The issue enables access to system directories such as `/etc`, potentially resulting in significant security risks.

## CrowdSec analysis

[CVE-2024-9362](https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/CVE-2024-9362) is an unauthenticated directory traversal vulnerability in Polyaxon/Polyaxon that allows attackers to access sensitive files and directories, such as `/etc`, on the server. This flaw can lead to significant information disclosure, enabling threat actors to obtain confidential system data without authorization.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 3rd of June 2026.

Data from the CrowdSec community indicates that exploitation of CVE-2024-9362 is highly selective and intelligence-driven. Threat actors use advanced reconnaissance and carefully choose their targets, often as part of sophisticated campaigns or advanced persistent threat operations.
CrowdSec network telemetry also shows that exploitation of CVE-2024-9362 has significantly declined over the past week. Attack volumes are well below the long-term average, suggesting attackers are rapidly losing interest. The vulnerability appears to be falling out of active use across most threat landscapes.

Attackers exploit this vulnerability by sending requests to URLs containing `/streams/v1/polyaxon/default/s/runs/%2e%2e/artifact` with the `path` parameter set to directory traversal sequences (e.g., `../../../../etc/passwd`), allowing unauthenticated access to sensitive files.
