- **Public exploit available:** Yes
- **Affected products:** Adobe ColdFusion
- **Weaknesses:** CWE-284 (Improper Access Control)
- **Tags:** web_application

## Description

ColdFusion versions 2023.6, 2021.12 and earlier are affected by an Improper Access Control vulnerability that could result in arbitrary file system read. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to access or modify restricted files. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. Exploitation of this issue requires the admin panel be exposed to the internet.

## CrowdSec analysis

[CVE-2024-20767](https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/CVE-2024-20767) is an Improper Access Control vulnerability in Adobe ColdFusion which may enable attackers to read arbitrary files from the file system, potentially exposing sensitive data or allowing unauthorized modifications. This issue only arises when the administrative panel is accessible from the internet.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 18th of December 2024.

CrowdSec network data shows that most actors exploiting CVE-2024-20767 rely on broad, untargeted scans with minimal filtering. The activity is largely automated and opportunistic in nature.
Telemetry from the CrowdSec network also shows that exploitation activity for CVE-2024-20767 remains steady week-over-week. Attack volumes are consistent with long-term trends, indicating sustained interest from threat actors. CVE-2024-20767 continues to be an active part of the threat landscape and will likely remain this way for the forseeable future.

Threat actors are primarily probing for URLs containing `cfide/adminapi/_servermanager/servermanager.cfc?method=getheartbeat` and `pms?module=logging` to identify and exploit vulnerable deployments.
