## Description

TerraMaster NAS 4.2.29 and earlier allows remote attackers to discover the administrative password by sending "User-Agent: TNAS" to module/api.php?mobile/webNasIPS and then reading the PWD field in the response.

## CrowdSec analysis

[CVE-2022-24990](https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/CVE-2022-24990) is a critical vulnerability in TerraMaster NAS 4.2.29 and earlier that allows remote attackers to obtain the administrative password by exploiting a flaw in the API response. By sending a specially crafted User-Agent header, attackers can easily retrieve sensitive credentials, potentially leading to full system compromise and unauthorized access to stored data.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 8th of April 2026.

CrowdSec network data shows that most actors exploiting CVE-2022-24990 rely on broad, untargeted scans with minimal filtering. The activity is largely automated and opportunistic in nature.
Additionally, according to week-over-week analysis by CrowdSec, exploitation of CVE-2022-24990 is surging. Attack volumes are spiking well above historical norms, indicating widespread and escalating interest from threat actors. CVE-2022-24990 is currently experiencing high visibility and active exploitation across the internet.

Attackers exploit this vulnerability by sending GET requests to `/module/api.php?mobile/webNasIPS` with a "TNAS" User-Agent, aiming to retrieve sensitive server information from TerraMaster NAS devices running vulnerable TOS versions.
