## CrowdSec analysis

[CVE-2021-24786](https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/CVE-2021-24786) is an SQL injection vulnerability in the Download Monitor WordPress plugin prior to version 4.4.5, caused by improper validation and escaping of the "orderby" GET parameter. This flaw could allow authenticated attackers to manipulate database queries, potentially leading to unauthorized data access, data modification, or even complete compromise of the affected WordPress site.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 30th of March 2026.

CrowdSec has not observed any significant exploitation activity targeting CVE-2021-24786 across its network. As a result, no community-driven trend analysis is available for this vulnerability at this time.

Attackers exploit the `/wp-admin/edit.php` endpoint with the `post_type=dlm_download` and `page=download-monitor-logs` parameters, injecting SQL code via the `orderby` parameter to execute arbitrary SQL commands on vulnerable WordPress sites running the Download Monitor plugin.
