## Description

IBM BigFix Platform 9.2 and 9.5 could allow an attacker to query the relay remotely and gather information about the updates and fixlets deployed to the associated sites due to not enabling authenticated access. IBM X-Force ID: 156869.

## CrowdSec analysis

[CVE-2019-4061](https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/CVE-2019-4061) is an information disclosure vulnerability in IBM BigFix Platform versions 9.2 and 9.5, where unauthenticated attackers can remotely query relays to gather details about deployed updates and fixlets. This flaw could be exploited to map out patch levels and security posture, potentially aiding in further targeted attacks.

CrowdSec has been tracking this vulnerability and its exploits since 13th of January 2026.

CrowdSec network observations suggest that most exploitation of CVE-2019-4061 involves focused reconnaissance to identify viable targets. Attackers typically tailor their campaigns based on system exposure and configuration. It is unlikely that a given attack is accidental.
Data from the CrowdSec community also indicates a gradual decrease in attacks targeting CVE-2019-4061. While still present in the wild, exploitation levels have dropped noticeably week-over-week. This may signal that the vulnerability is becoming less relevant or that defenses are improving fast enough for attackers to lose interest.

Attackers probe endpoints such as `/masthead/masthead.axfm` and `/cgi-bin/bfenterprise/clientregister.exe?RequestType=FetchCommands` to gather sensitive update and fixlet information from unauthenticated IBM BigFix relays.
